Amazing flat rectangular vase made in Japan during the late Showa Period (1929-1980). The rustic earthenware and glazing, the simple plant painted asymmetrically and shape of the vessel are both modern and traditional in the style of 1970s Japanese studio pottery. This piece is 6" wide, 2" thick and is sturdily made so a bit heavy. It has no chips or cracks and is more lovely in person.
